Kline: All 90 3rd-trimester abortions were illegal

Kansas Attorney General Drops Abortion Bombshell on O'Reilly Factor

Bill O'Reilly interviewed Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline about the 90 abortion clinic records recently turned over to the authorities. Kansas law only allows third-trimester abortions (post-viability abortions done on fetuses who could have been delivered alive) for two reason:

“(1) The abortion is necessary to preserve the life of the pregnant woman; or (2) a continuation of the pregnancy will cause a substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant woman.”

Now, these reasons are clearly bogus in the first place, since a pregnant woman whose life or health is in danger in the third trimester would need care in a fully-equipped hospital, not in the La Quinta. There's no medical reason not to do an emergency c-section or delivery in a hospital, where the mother will be attended by medical professionals. There can be no medical reason to have her spend three days in a motel attended by her husband, partner, sister, parents, or friends. But the Supreme Court, in Doe v. Bolton created a "health" need for post-viability abortions. The "need" is a judicial one, not a medical one, invented by men in black robes, not doctors in white coats.

Well, surprise, surprise! Kline's investigation is showing that women with actual life-threatening or health-threatening complications of pregnancy after viability have been checking into hospitals and getting real medical care. The women sold abortions in Kansas in the third trimester bought them for reasons such as "depression."

How killing a woman's baby will cure her depression remains a mystery, since depression is a mental illness, treated with psychtropic medications, psychotherapy, and -- in intractable cases -- electro-convulsive therapy or vagus nerve stimulation therapy. All of these address the woman's brain and psyche, not her uterus and certainly not her fetus, which isn't even part of her body in the first place.

It remains to be seen if Tiller will be held accountable for breaking the law, or if he'll be able to cut a few more campaign contribution checks and buy his way out of this one, the way he bought himself out of the trouble he ought to have been in for allowing Leroy Carhart to kill Christin Gilbert in his clinic.

God willing, Tiller will at last get his comeuppance. Ditto for the people who knew he was doing this and have been covering for him all these years.
