1926: Chicago Death at the Hands of Unknown Perp

On February 2, 1926, Alberta Handy, aged 38, died of a botched abortion in Chicago. The perpetrator was never caught.

During the first two thirds of the 20th Century, while abortion was still illegal, there was a massive drop in maternal mortality, including mortality from abortion.
