I agree with abortion apologists that no child should have ever had to endure the wretched start that Dani had in life. But I don't agree that what she suffered means that her life has no value and is not worth living, that both she and the world would have been better off had her life been cut off before she drew her first breath.

She worked hard to get to that laugh, to those smiles. She is loved and has learned to love in return.

She is an ambulatory testimony to the power of the human spirit, and the power of love.
