Baby Clothes: Dangerous. Fatal Malpractice: A-OK

Abortion-rights supporters continue to attack prolife pregnancy centers. They call them "fake clinics" and claim that they "endanger women." Meanwhile abortion-rights supporters remain blithely indifferent to facilities that actually do endanger -- and even kill -- women. They maintain this indifference even when the facility is a fake clinic -- a doctor's private practice advertising and presenting itself as if it is a licensed and inspected clinic. 

No woman has ended up with a hysterectomy or a colostomy because she visited a CPC. No woman has ended up with her life in a tailspin because she visited a CPC. No woman has ended up in her grave because she trusted a CPC. Many have been helped, a few have been irritated. And that's it.

But terrible fates have met women who trusted abortion facilities. Young girls have had to have hysterectomies before they were out of high school. Women have ended up passing waste through a stoma into a bag for the rest of their lives. They've ended up in mental hospitals, in nursing homes, and in cemeteries. And where is the prochoice movement's concern for these women? There is none. As long as the fetus dies, it's a happy ending. Even if there was no fetus, if the woman only thought she was pregnant, if she gets vacuumed out, mission accomplished. That's all that matters.

If even one woman died because she visited a pregnancy center, she would be a poster child for the abortion rights movement, front page news, showing up endlessly on social media streams. But there are none. Zero. Zilch.

When we look at the death toll, it's hard to defend the idea that the prolife centers are the dangerous "fake clinics" and fly-by-night storefront abortion clinics are a boon to womankind.

• Eurice Agbagaa - What looked like a clinic was run by |non-physicians who hired a nurse, scheduled appointments, and rented space to doctors who lacked their own facilities. Eurice was abandoned by the doctor and bled to death in the care of the receptionist -- who had administered the anesthesia for the abortion. • Teresa Causey  - The doctor who was operating an unlicensed facility noticed that Teresa was unresponsive. |He slapped her face, tried smelling salts, and tried to reach another doctor before finally calling an ambulance. Teresa bled to death. • Lilliana Cortez - The facility had lost its license due to repeated malpractice and was finally shut down by the state. The doctor just opened the place again as his private medical practice. Lilliana had a seizure and the doctor delayed for 40 minutes before calling an ambulance. • Donna Heim - Her fatal abortion was at the same fake clinic where Lilliana Cortez was fatally injured. She was given general anesthesia in an outpatient setting even though she'd told the nurse that she had asthma. She died from lack of oxygen due to respiratory distress. • Patricia King - The facility where she was fatally injured advertised as "licensed by the state," but at the time abortion clinics weren't inspected and licensed at all in Oklahoma. She was given general anesthesia and stopped breathing. Medics had a hard time getting her out of the building because of the narrow, tight turns on the corridors. • Guadalupe Negron - The doctor who did her abortion in his unlicensed facility had legally changed his name after losing his license for 47 incidents of misconduct. He got his license restored under his new name then had it revoked again. He was appealing the revocation when he ripped a three-inch hole in Lupe's uterus |and then just panicked instead of providing proper care while she bled to death. • "Adelle" Roe - Her doctor had voluntarily surrendered her New York license after trying to perform a first-trimester abortion on a woman who was actually 26 weeks pregnant. She set up her fake clinic in Virginia. Nobody on staff was qualified to provide emergency life support, and they failed to resuscitate Adelle when she stopped breathing. • Stacy Ruckman - Her doctor didn't want to hire a nurse-anesthetist for his fake clinic, so he would just overdose the patients on Lidocaine when numbing the cervix. The women would pass out and he'd do the abortions. Sometimes they'd stop breathing, but until the unfortunate Stacy, the doctor had always been able to resuscitate them.  • Angela Sanchez - After the doctor quit working at the facility, the owner, who had no medical training, just called herself a doctor and took over doing the abortions. She injected Angela with drugs. Angela vomited, foamed at the mouth, went into a seizure, and stopped breathing. An employee tried to call 911 but the owner said not to because they'd get in trouble. The owner later got caught trying to stuff Angela's stiffened corpse into the trunk of her own car to dump it in Mexico. • Michelle Thames - Her fatal abortion was at the same fake clinic where Lilliana Cortez was fatally injured. Michelle had a seizure then delayed in calling an ambulance to save his patient.

It boggles my mind that the self-appointed protectors of women's lives are more upset about prolifers handing out diapers than they are about these deaths.

It's the great paradox of our time.
