Mamie died on April 15, 1930, possibly in the office of Dr. Hans Paulsen at 4779 Lincoln Avenue, from an abortion performed on her that day. Two days later, Paulsen was booked for manslaughter by abortion.
The father of the baby, Uriah Denniston, was booked as accessory.
Paulson was held by the Coroner for murder by abortion. Denniston wasn't mentioned in the verdict.

I would Like to add some additional context to Ethel's choice to have an abortion. She was my great-grandmother's sister, so I likely never would have met her if she had lived beyond this event. There were parts to her family going on that contributed to this choice.
On top of the very recent market crash of 1929, her 18 year old sister had just had a baby on April 1st 1930. Her sister was unwed at the time and was still at home, to the best to my knowledge, which meant that there were 8 people and a newborn living in a 2bd 1 bath apartment over a store. Ethel's choice wasn't one out of selfishness, but one out of desperation.
