February 5, 1975: Fatal Abortion in North Carolina Hospital

 "Sheila Walters" was a 20-year-old black woman, separated from her husband and working in a factory, when she checked into Sampson Memorial Hospital in Clinton, North Carolina. 

Her doctor performed an abortion/tubal ligation surgery on January 31, 1975.

Sheila went into cardiac arrest. Doctor were able to get her heart started again, but she never recovered. She died on February 5.
