Abortion deaths in 1982

The Centers for Disease Control deigned to count the following abortion deaths in their most recent Abortion Surveillance Summary, for 2004:



Today I'll look at deaths in 1982. They count 12 -- 11 legal and 1 illegal.

That said, we can look at the deaths I know of. I have 8 deaths:

Myrta Baptiste is the illegal death, though she died at the same facility as three other women that the CDC counted as legal deaths. The abortionist had his license suspended -- unknown to Myrta -- at the time he performed the abortion. How's that as a handy trick for hiding an abortion death?

Angel Dardie developed a clotting disorder after a saline abortion.

Shary Graham was sent home to bleed to death from a cervical laceration.

Rhonda Hess developed sepsis and clotting problems after her safe, legal abortion.

Cora Mae Lewis was one of half a dozen women to die at Inglewood Women's Hospital.

Rhonda Ruggiero died suddenly of an embolism after her abortion.

Jennifer Suddeth bled to death as her boyfriend tried desperately to get in touch with the abortionist, while clinic staff scolded him for pestering them.

Darlene Wood died of anesthesia complications.
