July, 2022: Eugenic Late-Term Chemical Abortion Kills Healthy Woman

Three TPR (Terminated Pregnancy Report) forms were recently obtained from the Indiana Department of Health reporting three maternal deaths from legal abortion in 2022. Two of the dead women were killed by the same abortionist, Amy Caldwell. “Luna Roe” was the second of these two and was killed less than three months after the first dead client.

“Luna” was 31 and married and in good health when she got pregnant for the first time. She was told that her baby had a chromosomal abnormality. She had been told this was the case after an ultrasound, but no follow-up testing was done to confirm this. It’s possible that the diagnosis was a mistake. Either way, there was no reason for Luna and her baby to be killed.

Caldwell, an abortionist employed by Planned Parenthood, provided the chemical abortion pills that killed Luna and her child. It was incredibly negligent to use these pills on Luna, especially because she was approximately 21 weeks pregnant. The abortion pill was never approved for use that late in pregnancy and can cause life-threatening side effects even when used as directed.

Luna had the abortion in Indianapolis on June 25 and the report of her death was received nearly a month later. She had been healthy before the abortion, but taking abortion pills at 21 weeks pregnant killed her along with her baby. She died at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

In addition to the gross negligence of Luna’s case, the Indiana Department of Health uncovered many violations committed by abortion facilities in the state, including but not limited to: missing TPR forms, incorrectly filled out TPR forms and abortions done on children under 15 without reporting suspected abuse as required by law. Caldwell also dispensed fatal abortion pills to "Lucy" Roe.
