CPCs vs NAF

Abortion-rights supporters continue to attack prolife pregnancy centers. They call them "fake clinics" and claim that they "endanger women." Meanwhile abortion-rights supporters remain blithely indifferent to facilities that actually do endanger -- and even kill -- women. 

No woman has ended up with a hysterectomy or a colostomy because she visited a CPC. No woman has ended up with her life in a tailspin because she visited a CPC. No woman has ended up in her grave because she trusted a CPC. Many have been helped, a few have been irritated. And that's it.

But terrible fates have met women who trusted abortion facilities. Young girls have had to have hysterectomies before they were out of high school. Women have ended up passing waste through a stoma into a bag for the rest of their lives. They've ended up in mental hospitals, in nursing homes, and in cemeteries. And where is the prochoice movement's concern for these women? There is none. As long as the fetus dies, it's a happy ending. Even if there was no fetus, if the woman only thought she was pregnant, if she gets vacuumed out, mission accomplished. That's all that matters.

And it's not even the fly-by-night fake clinics. It's Planned Parenthood and the prestigious National Abortion Federation.

If even one woman died because she visited a pregnancy center, she would be a poster child for the abortion rights movement, front page news, showing up endlessly on social media streams. But there are none. Zero. Zilch.

When we look at the death toll, it's hard to defend the idea that the prolife centers endanger women and the abortion facilities provide safety. Let's look at the National Abortion Federation -- the supposed cream of the crop.

• Leigh Ann Alford: Sent home to bleed to death from a hole in her uterus • Gloria Aponte: Bled to death after abortion in a clinic where a receptionist with no medical training was performing general anesthesia • Keisha Marie Atkins: Dead from sepsis • Deanna Bell: Massively overdosed with Brevitol by doctor who had been scolded by the Medical Director of Planned Parenthood for "playing Russian roulette" with patient's lives • Diane Boyd: Given drugs that interacted with her routine medications • Chanelle Bryant: Instructed to use abortion drugs in an unapproved way linked with sudden-onset fatal toxic shock syndrome, then died of sepsis. • Patricia Chacon: Bled to death after an abortion at Family Planning Associates Medical group -- the largest for-profit chain of abortion facilities in the world. • Geneva Colton: NAF clinic gave the same amount of anesthesia to women weighing from 107 to 167 pounds. She languished in a coma for seven months before her death.  • Barbaralee Davis: Sent home to bleed to death with the face and spine of her fetus lodged in a tear in her uterus • Laniece Dorsey: Went into cardiac arrest during abortion at flagship Family Planning Associates. • "Kyla Ellis": Bled to death after abortion at NAF flagship Family Planning Associates. • Josefina Garcia: Hemorrhaged from an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy while in the recovery room after an abortion. • Christin Gilbert: Collapsed in a motel during a multi-day late abortion; her parents took her to the clinic, where medics finally arrived to find Leroy Carhart performing CPR so ineptly that they didn't realize he was a doctor. • Sheila Hebert: Went into cardiac arrest and died. • Regina Johnson: Investigators found falsified documentation, an underequipped recovery room, and a delay in calling emergency medical services at the NAF clinic owned by Alberto "License to Lie" Hodari • Nakia Jorden: Improperly monitored during anesthesia for her abortion at a Family Planning Associates facility. • Sandra Kaiser: Leapt off an overpass into traffic after a secret abortion at a NAF clinic. • "Imelda Laurence": Dead from sepsis. • Maria Leho: NAF member staff delayed calling 911 after they noticed that she wasn't breathing.  • Susan Levy: Homeless woman found dead in her car from sepsis due to an incomplete abortion at a FPA clinic. • Dawn Mack: Delayed response when she stopped breathing • "Haley Mason": Suicide after abortion at hero Leroy Carhart's clinic. • Sophie McCoy: Died of septic shock after abortion by NAF member Abu "The Butcher of Avenue A" Hayat • Jennifer McKenna-Morbelli: When she had complications in her hotel room, her family discovered that the emergency contact number for NAF hero Leroy Carhart rang to Carhart's wife's equestrian supply business. • Denise Montoya: Died after abortion by Douglas "The Texas Gosnell" Karpen • Christine Mora: Died of septicemia • Kimberly Neil: Slipped into a coma and died after abortion at NAF flagship Family Planning Associates. • Joyce Ortenzio: Found dead after being sent home with retained fetal parts. • Venus Ortiz: Lingered in a coma for five years after botched anesthesia at NAF the same NAF clinic that fatally injured Dawn Mack and Dawn Ravenell. • Mary Pena: Slipped through the morgue without an autopsy until a records clerk noticed that women don't just bleed to death from natural causes. • Catherine Pierce: Lingered in a coma for months after her NAF abortion. • Vanessa Preston: Developed a fatal clotting disorder • Dawn Ravenelle: Left unattended to lapse into a coma during secret abortion • Emmeko Reed: Damage to uterus from an abortion at an FPA caused her uterus to fatally rupture during a subsequent pregnancy • Maria Rodriguez: Bled to death after NAF member Steve Lichtenberg decided to treat her complications in his clinic instead of sending her to a hospital. • Tamiia Russell: Bled to death after secret abortion arranged by her abuser's sister • Angela Scott: One of two teens fatally injured nearly simultaneously at NAF clinic • Oriene Shevin: Given abortion pills with instructions to use them in a non-recommended way, leading to fatal sepsis.  • Delores Smith: One of two teens fatally injured almost simultaneously at a NAF clinic. I don't know how to even begin to get the prochoice movement to care about women. I've been trying for over twenty years now. I've seen individuals learn to care more about women than about politics, but they all become converts to the prolife cause. And then, like me, they realize that they're powerless to do anything to protect the women who think that they can trust Planned Parenthood, NAF, and NARAL to look after their best interests.

It's the great paradox of our time.
