Joyce Chorney, age 25, lived with her mother on Andrews Avenue in the Bronx. She worked as a laster in a shoe factory.
Joyce died Wednesday, November 18, 1953 in the office of 54-year-old Dr. Alfred Joseph.
An autopsy was performed at Bellevue Hospital. It showed that she had died of an induced abortion.
Joseph, a German immigrant, denied performing the abortion. He was charged with homicide in her death.
