What support looks like

Canada Court Sides With Pregnant Chinese Woman for Abortion-Asylum

A Chinese woman, pregnant out of wedlock, turned to her family for help avoiding the almost certain forced abortion she would face if officials learned of her pregnancy. They pulled together over $30,000 to send her to Canada, where she and her unborn child would be safe. This is an incredible sacrifice in a country where the average per-capita annual income is about $5,600.

Compare that to families here in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave where women cite pressure from their families as a primary reaon they're resorting to abortion. How many families in America would cough up over five years' income to help a woman avoid an unwanted abortion? How many would tell her, "It's your choice. You deal with it." And leave her to cope on her own.

Although many call themselves "pro-choice", many carry the attitude, "It's your choice" and leave her to deal with it, or are eager only to aide women seeking an abortion. But very few seem to be willing to help a woman avoid an unwanted abortion or live the name "pro-choice" and do work which also directly aides women wanting to carry to term.
