Relief or regret?

One of each. Though I think the jury is still out on the first woman. She probably hasn't even passed her due date yet, which is far too soon to have processed how she's going to cope.

A couple of things struck me in these women's stories.

First of all, they both ended up on the abortion table because they were sexually involved with men who were not committed to them. Buying love with sex, essentially. It's a losing proposition even if you don't end up pregnant.

Second of all, both of them found the abortion chute greased, so to speak. There was nobody to do anything but affirm a choice that was made in a period of intense stress, and in the second woman's case in an information vacuum.

Where did you see that the first woman was in a relationship with a man who wasn't committed to her? The only mention of him I see is that he was "excited at first" -- am I missing a portion of the article?

She laments being a single mom. She's not pregnant to a husband or even a fiance.

This is clearly a guy whose motto is "Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?"

Why would you say that when literally all that we know about the guy is that he is not married to his girlfriend and that he was excited when she got pregnant? I'd say pretty much nothing is "clear" about him. Do you realize how insulting it is to say that any man who has pre-marital sex is in it only for the sex? I'd say it's about as insulting as it would be if someone were to imply that the only reason men get married is so they can have sex.

I suppose. I'm tired and cranky and with a miserable headcold and frankly sick of the whole business and wish that fertility had an on-off switch so that people who wanted to cavort withouth reproducing could do it unerringly and those who wanted to reproduce would be able to and ...

Aw, screw it all. I've taken whatever useless pills my doctor prescribed (here in Korea you just get the pills in dose packs and take them on blind faith), and a dose of NyQuil, and have had the vaporizer cranked for the past six hours and I still can't draw comfortable breath to get any sleep. I can't think with my head all blocked like this.
