April 9 Anniversaries: One sad, one joyful


A suit by Phyllis R. alleged negligence by Dr. Max Gaujean during an abortion her performed on her at Cleveland Center for Reproductive Health on April 9, 1982. Phyllis suffered 'severe and permanent injury, including amennorhea, menometrorrhagia, pain, nausea, and physical and emotional damage and distress.' A suit by Bernice Z. alleged that she underwent an abortion by Dr. Bernard Rosenfeld at Houston Women's Clinic on August 26, 1987. Bernice was 17 weeks pregnant at the time. Fortunately, the abortion didn't kill the fetus, and Bernice gave birth on April 9, 1988. (Houston Court of Appeals Case No. 01-90-00134-CV)
